Bilateral political relations

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and Mongolia were established on January 24, 1992.

Embassies operate in both countries. The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Mongolia was opened on June 30, 2014. Since May 2026, the Ambassador of Belarus to Mongolia is M.S. Orda. The Embassy of Mongolia in Minsk was opened in May 2020. Since May 2026, the Ambassador of Mongolia to Belarus is G. Baigalmaa.

The first-ever state visit to Mongolia by the President of the Republic of Belarus, A.G. Lukashenko, took place on June 1–4, 2024.Prime Ministers of Belarus visited Mongolia in 1992 and 2013.

There have been no visits by Heads of Government of Mongolia to Belarus.In 2016, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus V.I. Semashko paid a working visit to Mongolia.

In 2017, during the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Sochi, Prime Minister of Belarus A.V. Kobyakov met with the Vice Premier of Mongolia.

In November 2025, during the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Moscow, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Turchin met with Prime Minister of Mongolia G. Zandanshatar.

In June 2025, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development of Mongolia, Nyam-Osoryn Uchral, visited the Republic of Belarus to participate in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting and signed the Interim Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Mongolia.

Foreign Ministers of Mongolia visited Belarus in 2001 and 2018. In 1996 and 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus paid visits to Mongolia. Five rounds of Belarusian-Mongolian inter-MFA consultations at the level of Deputy Minister have been held (the fifth taking place in Ulaanbaatar in September 2022).

The exchange of visits between the heads of legislative bodies of the two countries was not carried out. In December 2025, negotiations were held (via video-conference) between the heads of the parliamentary friendship groups of the Republic of Belarus and Mongolia: The Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs and National Security, S.F. Aleinik, and the member of the State Great Khural of Mongolia, R. Batbold.

The interaction between the Republic of Belarus and Mongolia in international organizations is constructive.

The legal framework between the two countries comprises 44 documents. During the state visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to Mongolia in June 2024, a package of 14 bilateral documents was signed. This includes the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, the Road map for Cooperation for 2024-2026, and agreements covering agriculture, emergency management, science, education, tourism, and environmental protection.
