Cooperation in the scientific and humanitarian spheres

The issues of cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere are regulated by the Agreement between the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia on cooperation in the field of science and technology dated September 5, 2013 (entered into force on September 5, 2013) and the Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia dated May 24, 2017 (entered into force on May 24, 2017).

In May 2015, the Joint Belarusian-Mongolian Commission for Cooperation in Science and Technology was established. Four meetings were held, the last one was organized on January 23, 2024 in Minsk. The following priority areas were identified for 2024–2025: agriculture, agricultural and forestry machinery and equipment, intensive livestock farming; reforestation and selection, crop production, archeology.

 In 2017, 2024 the President of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia D.Regdel visited Belarus. Negotiations were held with the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on promising areas of cooperation in the field of science and technology, D. Ragdel visited a number of scientific institutions in Belarus.

Five universities of Belarus took part in the National Exposition of Belarus as part of the international exhibition “Ulaanbaatar Partnership” (September 12-15, 2019, Ulaanbaatar), negotiations were held on joint research projects. The Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU) has signed cooperation agreements with the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, the State Agrarian University, the Academy of Mining Sciences, the Ulaanbaatar Institute of Technology; Grodno State University — a protocol of intent with the Ulaanbaatar Institute of Technology; Brest State Technical University and BSTU — a joint agreement on cooperation in the scientific field with the Mongolian University of Science and Technology.

During the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to Mongolia in June 2024, agreements were concluded between the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus and the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia, as well as the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology.

Cooperation in the field of education is governed by the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of Mongolia on cooperation in the field of education of September 4, 2013 (entered into force on July 8, 2014).

The agreement provides an opportunity for annual training at the universities of the parties on agreed terms for up to three people. In the 2015/2016 academic year, Belarus accepted two Mongolian students for free education, in the 2016/2017 academic year — three students. In 2018, the admission of students under this scheme was suspended, as Belarusian students did not apply to study at universities in Mongolia. In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 232 of June 12, 2018 “On study grants”, in 2019 five citizens of Mongolia were admitted under the system of study grants, in 2020 also five citizens, in 2021 – eleven. In addition, in 2021, the training of 3 Mongolian citizens was organized at the preparatory department (on a paid basis) with their subsequent transfer next year to study at the expense of grants. In 2022, the quota of education under the grant system for citizens of Mongolia has been increased to 20 places, 9 people were accepted, in 2023 — 1 person.

Within the framework of cooperation between Dalanzadgad somon of Umnugov aimag and the city of Zhodino, more than 20 citizens of Mongolia were accepted for training at the branch of BNTU “Zhodino State Polytechnic College” at the expense of the Mongolian dealer JSC “BELAZ”.

Cooperation in the field of culture is regulated by the Agreement between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports of Mongolia on cooperation in the field of culture of February 6, 2017 (entered into force on February 6, 2017).

In 2019, within the framework of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Independence Day of Belarus, from June 25 to July 3, 2019, the Week of Belarusian Cinema in Mongolia was organized for the first time in Ulaanbaatar. The program of the Film Week was made up of films dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War that took place in Belarus, and a thematic photo exhibition “Partisan Belarus” was held.

In 2020, as part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, on May 7 and 9, the central TV channel MNB will show the feature film “Brest Fortress” (dubbed into Mongolian).

In order to develop cooperation in the field of book printing and popularize the works of Belarusian writers in Mongolia, with the direct participation of the Embassy, ​​a collection of sonnets by the Belarusian classic Yanka Kupala was published for the first time in Mongolian.

The translator of the publication is the Honored Worker of Culture of Mongolia Badam-Ochiryn Galaarid. In 2019  a number of commemorative events were held as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the battles at Khalkhin Gol and the 110th anniversary of the birth of the internationalist pilot, the first twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Belarusian S.I. Gritsevets, who distinguished himself in the battles at Khalkhin Gol.

Together with the mayor's office of the city of Choibalsan and with the direct participation of the Mayor of the city of Choibalsan P. Munkhtur, the production of a bust of S.I. Gritsevets was organized in the workshop of the Mongolian sculptor L. Gantumur.

On September 9, 2019, the opening ceremony of the monument was held in the city of Choibalsan with the invitation of the grandson of the hero — S.V. S.I. Gritsevets. In Russian and Mongolian languages, the book of the Belarusian journalist A. Shcherbakov “Entrust the sky to the winged ones!” was republished. . The translator of the publication is the Honored Worker of Culture of Mongolia Badam-Ochiryn Galaarid.

The newspaper “News of Mongolia” published a number of articles about the life path and exploits of the famous Belarusian, the Mongolian Internet media posted interviews of the Ambassador and S.V. Arkhangelsky.

In order to intensify cooperation in the field of librarianship, on October 23, 2019, at the National Library of Mongolia, with the participation of representatives of more than 40 libraries in Ulaanbaatar, as well as the Mongolian media, a presentation of the collection of sonnets by Y. Kupala and the book “Entrust the sky to the winged!” More than 200 copies of books were donated to representatives of libraries. Also, the director of the National Library was presented with a facsimile edition of the first “Primer”, donated by the National Library of Belarus.

Cooperation in the sports field is developing. Since 2018, Mongolian athletes have been regularly participating in the annual International SAMBO Tournament for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus, constantly winning prizes. In July 2019, Belarusian athletes took part and won prizes in the stage of the World Sambo Championship held in Mongolia. In February 2020, a delegation of the Mongolian Sambo Federation (members of the federation, coaches and athletes) visited Belarus. During the tournament, Mongolian athletes won a number of prizes.

In August 2023, Mongolian athletes (sambo and judo) took part in the II CIS Games in the Republic of Belarus. Mongolia took 12th place in the overall team standings. Enebish Batseren won a silver medal in the sambo competition (men, up to 64 kg).
